John married Ellen Pickering, daughter of Richard Pickering (Shoemaker/Gold Prospector) and Ellen Kenniwell, in 1901 in Forbes, New South Wales. (Ellen Pickering was born on 18 Sep 1857 in Five Mile Creek, Binalong, New South Wales, died on 27 May 1942 in Berilda Pvte Hospital, Brisbane and was buried in Bulimba Cemetery, Brisbane, Queensland.)
